Why PGDM + SAP

There is a huge demand of expert professionals in the logistics and supply chain management, where you can make a good career. The initiatives Government of India is taking to encourage the manufacturing sector and exports are expected to upsurge the demand for logistics functions. The thriving e-commerce market (like Amazon, EBay, Flip kart and many others) in India is bringing in new opportunities for logistics & supply chain professionals.

Modules covered

Every programme is built around the desks Kochi hires for. The modules, in the order they are taught:

  • Freight forwarding – Air and sea export–import, booking, bills of lading, incoterms
  • Warehousing and inventory – Receiving, put-away, picking, stock control, WMS basics
  • Customs documentation – Shipping bills, bill of entry, HS codes, clearance flow
  • Shipping and port operations – Container flow, CFS, ICD, port procedures at Cochin Port
  • Transport planning – Route, fleet and last-mile planning; e-commerce logistics
  • SAP MM (Materials Management) – Hands-on in the lab: purchase orders, goods receipt, inventory and vendor management
  • Excel and ERP for logistics – MIS reports, tracking sheets, the tools a desk actually uses
  • Communication and interviews – Spoken English for the desk, mock interviews, CV building

SAP is taught hands-on in the institute’s own lab and is included in the fee; it is not a paid add-on. Practical sessions use the group’s own logistics operations, and industrial visits are part of every batch.

Careers and placement

Freight forwarding operations is the most common first role.

Employers who have hired Laurus students include Flipkart, XpressBees, CUMI, TVS, Hyatt Regency, DMX Logistics, Galactico Express Solutions, AGS Logistics, Jayem Express Cargo, Symega Foods, Elite Foods, Cyrix Healthcare, Logifex Freight Services and Meridian Express. Placement support means interview preparation, mock interviews, CV building and placement drives until you are placed – it is support, not a guaranteed job with a third-party employer. Salary depends on the employer and the role; ask a counsellor for current figures.
